Summer saviours

In June the garden undergoes a transition in terms of planting.

Spring is a distant memory, with bulb foliage all but gone and first spring flowering perennials having done their business.

Now the beds need a boost, a refresh of colour that will last through until the first frosts. To keep this colour going is the gardening challenge. To create succession of colour in a bed is essential. In this bed, newly created, I add summer favourites such as Day Lilly, Salvias, Cosmos, Agapanthus, along with spring flowering perennial like Delphinium and Lupin, offering colour for next spring.

A beautifully simple project this, some lovely planting that will last for years.
