Peddars Barn – Big Build – Part 1

This big build is a landscaping project focused around creating a beautiful outside journey.

This barn conversion was lacking one thing, a beautiful garden worthy of it’s surroundings.

Set in the beautiful Norfolk countryside this barn conversion has a massive 50 metre x 15 Metre plot to it’s rear. Essentially a blank canvas, which allowed for creative exploration on how to use the space.

In part one of this project, after discussing the intention of the garden, it’s plan, design and planting scheme we set to work creating the bones of the garden and implementing it’s hard landscaping elements.

After extensive discussion with the client, we created a beautiful plan for the garden, a series of Sleeper Walls encapsulating garden “rooms” or beds, all linked together with gravel pathways. The whole plot is split into 3, a lawn, the “Garden” area – Rooms, and what will be an extensive Wildflower patch to the end of the garden.

The aim of the garden is to take the garden visitor on a journey from the house through the beds to the wildflower patch beyond – the final destination a summer house in the wildflower, a reward after a hard days work.

We put in our hard days work here, in part one of the process, digging trenches to install sleeper walls and digging beds for which to plant into. Stage two will be pathways, digging ad creating these, all by hand for maximum precision and craft.

Watch this space for updates to this challenging but fascinating project.

A unique project, spaning the year, which will hopefully bring joy and delight to the owners.
